STAR WARS: OBI WAN KENOBI SEASON 02 - Episode 04 "Attachment"

Having recovered Mace Windu’s body, Obi Wan and Rex deliberate the best ways to restore his mind and put an end to the enemy that hunts them.

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Captain Rex deliberate what to do with Mace Windu. Kenobi does not have the medical knowledge to restore Mace, but finding someone with the required skills and not on Imperial payroll will be near-impossible.

Kenobi has one other stipulation. No rebels. Revealing to any rebel faction that the Jedi, especially such high-ranking Jedi, are still alive would cause a wave of excitement that could collapse all their efforts. Rex believes he knows some that fit the criteria, so they make their way across the outer rim.

As they go, Kenobi tries to access Windu’s mind, but finds the malevolent force surrounds his mind, impenetrable by conventional Jedi arts and tricks. The old droid spies as the Jedi works, meditates, and considers his options.

The ship touches down in a small, ramshackle town, occupied by Clone survivors. Kenobi is overwhelmed to see so many survivors in their thriving community. As the medics work on Windu, Kenobi finds he is able to relax, to fully appreciate the brotherhood he built with the Clones during the war. As they reminisce, the Clones increasingly mock Kenobi for his attachment to them. When Kenobi resists the accusation, Rex reminds him how often their attachment has saved the lives of countless Jedi and clones. Obi Wan reminds Rex that it was also what led to their failure to foresee Order 66. Rex wishes to dissect this further.

This is cruelly cut short when Gund’s forces arrive. The former soldiers somewhat gleefully return to the battlefield to defend their home. Despite their training, their perfect executions, they are quickly overwhelmed. They, and Kenobi, are resistant to Rex’s insistence on a more malleable approach. He won’t allow discipline to see his family wiped out. Not like the Jedi. They need to adapt to survive. The voice of the many wins out, and Bur Gund’s forces wipe them out.

Through sheer wit and luck, Rex is able to save Kenobi, the body of Windu, and three clones aboard the Wookiee’s ship. Their escape is hampered when, just as they seem to be in the clear, Bur Gund’s ship appears at the head of her fleet.

Utterly defeated, Kenobi sees no way out. Rex wants to use some unconventional, even dangerous tactics, but Kenobi refuses. There is no hope. Seemingly awoken by the proximity of his attacker, Windu suddenly wakes. Shrouded in purple energy, Windu disbands Gund and her forces, giving just enough time for the Jedi and their Companions to jump to hyperspace. Safe, for now.
