When a prolific Hitman is given the job of bringing his latest target in alive, the Universe does its best to stop him at any cost.
Act 01 – Set Up and Call to Action
The Hitman stalks and subdues his victim. He stuffs them in the boot of his car, apologising as he’s not used to his targets still breathing. He makes his way to the rendezvous point, ignoring his sat nav to take a shortcut.
Before too long he is caught at the back of a long line of stationary traffic.
Act 02 – Things Go Well. Initial Objective Achieved
As the Hitman tries to reverse away from the stationary traffic, he’s blocked by another car. The Hitman gets out to argue, but the Driver refuses to move. Even if he did agree, there’s now more cars behind. Hitman is blocked in.
His phone rings. He steps away from the car to take the call from his client. The client wants to know where he is. If he doesn’t get to the meeting point soon, he’s not getting paid.
As the Hitman returns to the car, the traffic jumps forward. Relieved, Protagonist puts his foot down but only moves a few cars forward before coming to a halt again.
Act 03 – Things Start to Go Wrong as Forces of Antagonism Gather Strength
Increasingly desperate, the Hitman pulls out and into oncoming traffic. He manages to turn the car unscathed.
Returning to his original route, the Hitman’s car is rear-ended at a red light.
Act 04 – Things Go Really Badly Wrong
Concussed, the Hitman tries to keep the well-meaning public away from his car. He insists he’s fine and nobody needs to make a fuss. The boot of his car is crumpled and misshapen. He can’t let the public find the body that’s in there.
While his back is turn, an onlooker calls an ambulance. While the Hitman begs them to retract the call, offering his own phone to make the call, another onlooker moves towards the car. The Hitman turns his attention to the car. Attempting to stop the onlooker from getting closer to the car, he trips and cracks his head on the boot lid.
When the ambulance arrives, the Hitman is perched on the crumpled boot while someone looks at his head. As he shifts his weight, he feels the boot unlatch beneath him, his weight is now the only thing keeping it closed.
The paramedics urge him to come to the ambulance, but he refuses.
His phone rings. Where is it? It lies on the tarmac where he fell, the name of the client flashing up on the screen.
An onlooker picks up the phone.
Unthinking, the Hitman dives towards the phone and snatches it.
The boot swings open.
